General Notes: Husband - Lt. Percival Butler

He was commissioned 1st Lieutenant in the 3d Pennsylvania, Col. Thomas Craig's regiment, September 1, 1777, when he was only eighteen years old. He wintered at Valley Forge, served in the battle of Monmouth, and was at the capture of Cornwallis. He went south with Wayne, and remained there until the close of the war. He emigrated to Kentucky in 1784. He was the only survivor of the old stock when the War of 1812 began. He was made Adjutant-General of Kentucky, and in that capacity joined one of the detachments of troops sent off from that state.
