General Notes: Husband - Jacob Rhoades

---

In 1796 he came to Salem Township, Mercer County, PA, and made a settlement on a tract of 200 acres of land, and remained there until 1798, when his parents, Caleb and Hannah, also arrived, and made a permanent settlement, the original settlement of Jacob being made for his father. Some years afterward Jacob purchased 200 acres more for himself, adjoining his father's, and at the death of his father purchased the interests of the heirs in the homestead. Jacob was drafted twice and served in the War of 1812. He was a Democrat, but never aspired after official positions.
