General Notes: Husband - Samuel R. Burns

He was born on the banks of Antietam Creek, Franklin County, Pennsylvania. He followed farming on the family homestead until two years after his father's death, when he moved to Guilford Township, Franklin County, on a farm near Fayetteville, where he distinguished himself as a successful farmer until the autumn of 1869, when he moved to Scotland, Pennsylvania, and thereafter was engaged a greater part of his time in settling estates.

He was an elder in the Covenanter (later the Reformed Presbyterian) Church, for a number of years previous to his settlement in Scotland, and later became an elder in the United Presbyterian Church.

He and his wife had six children, three sons and three daughters. Three of these children died previous to their mother.
