General Notes: Husband - William McMarlin


He was reared on his father's farm, and was educated in the pioneer subscription schools. In 1822 he purchased a farm of 133 acres in Adams township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, which he cleared and improved.
In early life he was a member of the Covenanter church, but later joined the United Presbyterian faith and was an elder in that church for thirty years. In politics, he was originally a Whig, and afterwards a Republican.


General Notes: Wife - Magdalena Burkhart


Her uncle was John Burkhart, who was captured by the Indians and forced to run the gauntlet, just before he came to Butler County.
