General Notes: Husband - James David Grove

He was educated in the public schools of Franklin, Pennsylvania, where the activities of his career always centered, and after leaving school, he became associated with the “Venango Daily Herald,” and the “News-Herald,” at Franklin. This connection he continued until 1911, when he entered the employ of the General Manifold & Printing Company, large commercial and railway printers and manufacturers of duplicating carbonized papers of all kinds. Beginning as office boy, he was advanced to positions of larger responsibility as he demonstrated his capacities and gained in experience. During the intervening years he held practically every position in the company, up to and including the office of secretary and treasurer, in which capacity he has served since 1929.
He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and various social and fraternal organizations. He was active in the Masonic Order, in which he was affiliated with all higher Scottish Rite bodies, including the thirty-second degree of the Consistory, and also Knights Templar; served as trustee of the Franklin American Legion Post and a member of the Royal Arcanum and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. During the World War he entered the National Army, went overseas as a member of Company L, 320th Infantry, 80th Division, and was wounded in action in the Argonne Forest on October 11, 1918, being hospitalized for the rest of the war. He was a Republican in politics and a member of the Presbyterian Church.
