This family originated in Germany and in old times the family name was spelled Reeb.

He came with his wife to America and settled on land in Cranberry Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania. With their native thrift and industry they cleared and cultivated the land and when their son Christian grew to man's estate, he succeeded to the property.
