General Notes: Husband - Edward W. Budd


He was educated in the common schools in Missouri and in Mercer County, PA; also attended Iron City Commercial College at Pittsburg. He enlisted in Company H, Twenty-first Missouri Volunteers, in the infantry service, for “three years or during the war.” The first battle in which he was engaged was at Pittsburg Landing, then at the siege of Corinth, Mississippi, on October 6 and 7, 1862, and he was in the battle of Iuka, Mississippi, and in every battle his regiment was in up to April 21, 1863, when he was discharged on account of disability. He then returned to Sharon, PA, and attended school at Pittsburg. He was chief accountant for the Stewart Iron Works from 1885 and was one of the stockholders of that company. He was also stockholder of the Valley Connecting Railroad Company. Politically, he was a Republican.
