He was born at Delmont, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and on the death of his father succeeded to the proprietorship of the drug and hardware business, which he enlarged and extended. He carried a full line of drugs, druggists' sundries, paints, oil, glass and hardware. He was a member of Philanthrophy Lodge, No. 225, A. F. and A. M., Greensburg; and Carmel Lodge, No. 542, I. O. O. F., Delmont, having passed all chairs in the latter. Was grand lodge representative at Philadelphia, May 21, 1895, at dedication of Odd Fellows Temple.
