General Notes: Husband - Hugh Workman

He and his brothers, Samuel and James, came to Washington County, Pennsylvania, about 1781. They all purchased lands outside the borough of Washington.
About 1789, he built a tannery on the lot later owned by William Smith and Mrs. Clark. His house was where the depot of the Hempfield Railroad later stood. He carried on the business many years, which was finally transferred to his son Samuel, who, in 1837, sold it to David Wolf.

He was a soldier in the Revolutionary War and a member of Col. William Crawford's expedition against Sandusky in 1792.
