General Notes: Husband - William E. Brown

He received his primary education in the common schools from which he passed to Independence Academy and thence to Duff's Business College, Pittsburgh, from which he graduated in the class of 1892. After teaching for five years he entered the service of the Pennsylvania Railroad Company in 1892, and for two years held a clerical position at Bolivar. He then moved onto a farm where he then resided, and gave his entire attention to agricultural pursuits, making a specialty of stock raising. He and his family were members of the United Presbyterian church. He was a Republican in politics, and served as school director for six years, and was also township treasurer.
