General Notes: Husband - John C. Brown

He was born at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and was eleven years old when his father brought the family to New Castle. His first work after leaving school was in a brickyard, and, following this, in a glass manufacturing establishment, where he remained for some sixteen years, becoming a skilled workman. In 1895 he entered into business with his father, under the style of John S. Brown & Son. After his father's death, John C. Brown continued the business, adopting the style of John S. Brown's Son. In 1900, in association with his father, he put up the brick block, which he occupied, at No. 3 Allen Street.
