He was a native of Germany and immigrated in 1803 to Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, where he settled in what was then North Huntingdon but later Sewickley township. He purchased a tract of 170 acres of land from William McGrew, which had been patented by James McGrew in 1797. [BCWC, 593]

John Highberger, Jr., was a son of John Highberger, Sr., a native of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, who removed to Westmoreland County in about 1785 and purchased a farm. [BCWC, 594]

He settled in Westmore-land County, Pennsylvania, about 1785, where he purchased a farm. [KFGC]
