General Notes: Husband - David Oliver Brown

Saltsburg, Indiana Co, PA

Civil War: he entered the army, August 8, 1862, as a private in company G, 135th Pa. vols., and served nine months; he re-enlisted in company G, 110th Pa. vols,, of which he was the first lieutenant, and served till June 30, 1865.

In the fall of 1863, and spring of 1864, in connection with Rev. J. S. T. Milligan, (both Covenanters,) he assisted in organizing the colored schools in the District of Columbia, and he taught the first school of the District. From 1870 to 1877, he was a partner in the wholesale grocery house of Stewart & Co., and on the 1st of March of the latter year, he removed to Saltsburg, and became the cashier of the Farmers and Merchants' Bank.
