He entered Valparaiso College in 1898 completed a scientific course there in 1901. He entered Ann Arbor Law School in 1905 and graduated in June of 1908. He was married in September and took his wife with him to school during his senior year. He was assistant to Prof. Thompson in the work on bankruptcy law. After graduation they went back to Pennsylvania, spent three months, where his daughter was born. In September the family went west and he began practicing law in Boise, Idaho.
