Colerain Twp, Lancaster Co, PA - a farmer

He was educated in the home schools, and began life for himself as a farmer and fruit raiser. In 1857 he bought a home, which had at that time a log cabin and a log barn. In 1864 he put up a modern house, and in 1878 a fine barn. Mr. Brosius was very extensively engaged in the cultivation of small and standard fruits.
He and his second wife belonged to the Friends' church. He voted the Republican ticket in early years, but later he took up with the Prohibitionists, and voted that ticket.
