General Notes: Husband - Absalom Mook

He was but nine months old when his parents located in Sagertown, Crawford County, PA, and he lived there much of his life with the exception of a year and a half spent in Erie County, PA. He was educated in the common schools, and during his minority learned harness-making of his father, and followed that occupation, embarking in business for himself when twenty-three years of age.
He was appointed Postmaster at Saegertown in 1851 under Fillmore’s administration, filling the office two years. In 1861, under Lincoln, he was again appointed to this office. He was Burgess of Saegertown one term; School Director many years, besides holding other minor offices. He was formerly a Whig in politics, but at the organization of the Republican party he joined it. He and his wife were members of the E. A. U. and of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
