He received his early education in Berwick high school; in September, 1892, entered Academic Course at Princeton University, and graduated in June, 1896, with degree of Bachelor of Arts. He was employed from 1896 to 1901 at First National Bank of Berwick and with Jackson & Woodin Manufacturing Company. February 1, 1901, he was elected director, secretary and treasurer of U. S. Metal & Mfg. Co. of 165 Broadway, New York City, and removed to that city. On Jan. 31, 1907, he was elected General Manager. On September 23, 1899, he was elected a trustee of Crispin Cemetery Association. In September, 1903, he was elected a director of the First National Bank of Berwick, Pennsylvania. January 14, 1908, was elected vice-president, and July 12, 1909, was elected president of the bank.
