General Notes: Husband - William Marshall Soper

He was born at Harrisville, Butler County, Pennsylvania, and there he received his first schooling. When he lived at Bully Hill he used to walk three miles to school. At the age of twenty-one years he started out for himself, checking and weighing coal in his father's mine. For two years he was a railroad brakeman, and for fifteen years he was in the oil fields of New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio. March 1904, he bought a farm of seventy-two acres and his father's farm of sixty acres near Fredell, Clarion County, Pennsylvania. Later in 1902 bought a fifteen acre farm at Washington Doverspike, about one hundred and fifty acres in all. There he made his home; he built a barn and remodeled the house, and the farm was put in an improved condition generally. He was a Democrat, and was school director for multiple terms. In religion Mr. Soper was a Methodist, his wife a Presbyterian.
