General Notes: Husband - Abraham Wegley


He was born at Easton, Northampton County, Pennsylvania, and removed with his father to Westmoreland County in 1773. He served as a soldier in the Revolutionary war and afterwards took up three hundred acres of land in Hempfield township, for which his patent is dated December 17, 1818. He was a farmer by occupation and a democrat. He was a member of the Lutheran church and helped to organize the Brush Creek church of that denomination and to erect a building for the congregation.

He served in the Revolutionary War from 1777 to 1782. At its close he purchased the application and obtained a patent for the land which became the Wegley homestead farm, and on which he and his father resided the remainder of their lives

He and his wife had ten children, three sons and seven daughters.
