The family came to America in 1802, and settled in Donegal Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, where they obtained 200 acres of land by "settlers' right," but their son John Bredin, in 1812, bought land two miles southeast of Butler, in the present township of Summit, to which the parents removed.
