General Notes: Husband - W. J. Breaden

He spent his entire life in West Sunbury, Butler County, Pennsylvania, except for a few years at Kittanning, and as a student at Duff's Business College, Pittsburgh. In 1870 with his brother-in-law, P. W. Conway, he established a general merchandise business which he operated until his death. He was closely identified with the founding of the old West Sunbury Academy, which was destroyed by fire in 1923. He was a member of the original group that secured the erection of the academy and was much interested in its progress. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church. For fifty-six years he was a teacher in the Sunday School, and for fifty years was a member of the board of ruling elders. His good judgment, kindly spirit and deep interest in the spiritual and moral welfare of others made him an invaluable member of the session and the Butler Presbytery. On January 14, 1913, he was made a director of the Butler Savings & Trust Company, and was the second vice president and director at the time of his death.
