General Notes: Husband - John Orr

---

He was reared on the home farm in Mercer township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, which he aided in clearing, and lived with his parents until he reached his majority. He then spent many years in the oil country, but in 1874 purchased a farm of the James G. Harrigan estate. He followed general farming, and in addition was agent for the Worth Mutual Fire Insurance Company. He served in that capacity beginning in 1893, and was also one of the directors of the company, in which he was financially interested.
He was a Republican in politics, and served as constable nine years, as overseer of the poor, assessor, supervisor and in other township offices. Religiously, he and his family were members of the Presbyterian Church.
