General Notes: Husband - Zachariah Rankin

He took up a tract of land near his father's on a Virginia certificate, in Mount Pleasant township, Washington County, Pennsylvania. It was surveyed in 1785 as "Black-Oak Ridge," containing three hundred and thirty-seven acres, adjoining William Martin and John Lyle, on the waters of Raccoon Creek. In the October following he was bitten by a mad wolf, and died three months afterwards of hydrophobia. He was married, and a daughter was born after his death. She inherited the property.

He died from the bite of a mad wolf.
