General Notes: Husband - William [2] Gordon

Bully Hill, Venango Co, PA

When his son was little more than a baby, William was killed when driving a team of colts to get a load of coal. The colts stumbled on "Steeple", William was thrown out and trampled by the horses. The Court appointed William's younger brother Samuel (2) as guardian of Wesley Howe.

The William Gordon spoken of here is known to be the eldest son of Samuel Gordon. However, there appears to have been another William Gordon about ten years older. Such a boy, William[1] is given in the 1820 Census, before William[2] was born in 1823. Could he have been a nephew, raised by Samuel for some reason before Samuel moved to Sandy Creek Twp. from Richland Twp?
