He married and removed to Ohio, where he carried on business about three years. He then returned to what became Lincoln township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.

His early years were spent in his native township, but later he purchased a farm of one hundred and forty acres, in Lincoln township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, where he resided until his death.
