It is thought that this is the John Boyd, the immigrant, who came to Pennsylvania with his father, William Boyd, and his uncle Thomas Boyd in 1729. When he arrived at the age of 21, he took up a piece of land adjoining his father's in his own right. This land grant was dated Mar., 1741, and further confirmed on Oct. 7, 1765, for 120 acres, when the survey by the proprietors of the colony was actually made.
