From 1877 to 1881 he served as a clerk in the store of John B. Anderson at Youngstown. After completing his commercial course at Pittsburgh he became book-keeper for Anderson, Mellon & Albert, limited, at Latrobe. He continued in their employ as book-keeper and clerk for four years. He was a republican and served as borough auditor for some years. He was a member of Loyalhanna Council, No. 16, Chosen Friends and the Evangelical Lutheran church.
In 1886 Mr. Bossart embarked in business for himself. His clothing and furnishing house was located in the "Parker House" block (No. 811) Ligonier street, Latrobe. The establishment was neat, attractive and commodious in its arrangements. The stock was varied and complete, including the latest and best ready-made clothing in the market.
