General Notes: Husband - Robert Glenn

In 1810, he came with his family from Spruce Creek Valley, Center County, PA, to Butler County. Their means of travel was four horses and a wagon. After their arrival they located on a farm purchased from a man named Hockenberry, or rather it was a settler's right to 150 acres.

He settled in 1810 on the farm where his grandson, Robert F., later resided. He came out in 1808 and purchased two pieces of land, and in 1810 moved his family with a wagon and four horses; Mrs. Glenn rode on a fifth horse. Soon after he settled there, he saw that the settlers were much in need of a blacksmith's services, and accordingly he induced a man named John Emery to come and establish a shop. Emery worked there many years, and Andrew Glenn learned the trade from him and continued the business afterward. [HBC 1883, 365]

He came to Mercer county about 1808, purchased 200 acres of land in Pine township, and 175 acres in Butler county, but did not settle upon either. The same year he bought of John Hockenberry and William Elliott 300 acres of land where his grandson, John A. Glenn, would later reside, in Worth township, Butler County, on which he settled in 1810. He built a stone house which was still standing in 1895.
