General Notes: Husband - Jacob Boos


He learned the blacksmith's trade in Germany and emigrated to the United States in 1853, and settled at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. On September 12, 1854, he removed to Butler, where he was employed by Walter & Reiber. In 1857 he engaged in business for himself. In 1860 he purchased the George Egner farm in Butler Township and farmed for ten years. In 1870 he bought the interest of George Webber in the firm of Webber and Troutman, the firm being then Troutman & Boos. He was interested in this business until 1890. In 1881 he engaged in the grocery business, corner of Main and Wayne Streets, and in 1889 purchased the site and erected a modern building.
He was a Democrat in politics, and the family was connected with the English Lutheran church.
