General Notes: Husband - Abraham Lincoln

Not the 16th president of the United States, but a relative.

He was born a posthumous son in in Exeter township, Berks County (then part of Philadelphia County), Pennsylvania. His father died in May of 1736, about five months before his birth. He was brought up on a farm and received a fair education. Prior to the Revolution, he served as a county commissioner from 1772 to 1775, and continued in office by re-election until 1778. On March 21, 1777, he was appointed one of the sub-lieutenants of the county, but it is not known how long he served in this position. He represented the county in the General Assembly from 1782 to 1786, and was a delegate to the Pennsylvania Convention to ratify the Federal Constitution in 1787. He did not sign the ratification. He was also a member of the Constitutional Convention of 1789-90.

He was one of the six Assemblymen elected Oct. 7, 1782 to represent Berks county, receiving the third largest vote. His brother, Mordecai Lincoln, signed the election returns as one of the judges of election. He was a member of the State convention of 1787, and of the Constitutional convention of 1789-90. It is said that after the close of the Revolution he was selected to address Gen. Washington at Philadelphia.
His precision as a man may be illustrated from the following entry in his "Account Book:" "Abraham Lincoln and Anne Boone were married on the fifth day of the week, on the 10th day of July, A. D. 1760, when his age was 23 years, 8 months and 11 days and her age was 23 years, 2 months and 26 days, he being 5 months, 15 days and 22 hours older than she." In the same manner a complete record of all the members of his family was kept so that the very minute of their births and deaths was recorded in every instance. This "Account Book" was later in possession of the Pennsylvania Historical Society, filled with interesting historical data, mostly preceding the Revolution.

General Notes: Wife - Anne Boone

She was a full cousin of Col. Daniel Boone, the pioneer of Kentucky.

Notes: Marriage

The Boones were Quakers and the Lincolns Congregationalists. Hence it appears by the minutes of the Exeter Meeting, October 27, 1761, that she "condoned" her marriage to one who was not a member of the Society.
