General Notes: Husband - Henry W. Stauffer

Scottdale, Westmoreland Co, PA

When a young man he engaged for several years in butchering at Pennsvile, Pennsylvania. In 1864 he enlisted in Co. E, sixth reg. Pa. Vols., participated in all the battles in which his regiment was engaged and served until the close of the Civil War. After being mustered out of the United States service he returned to his Fayette County home, and about 1871 removed to Upper Tyrone township, that county, where he purchased a farm. He was a republican and a member of the M. E. church.

He was born and reared in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and followed farming and butchering for a number of years. In later years he partially retired from active business. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, and filled most of the offices.
