General Notes: Husband - Caleb Newbold

He was one of the largest land owners and most substantial citizens of Fayette County, PA.
At the time of his death he was proprietor of some seven hundred acres of land in Crawford County.

He was a miller and traveling merchant before locating in Crawford County, PA. With a six-horse team and a huge wagon he conducted a flourishing trade in general merchandise, along his route being Baltimore, Philadelphia, Uniontown and Pittsburg. While thus establishing a substantial trade along the Old Pike, he did not neglect other matters which were to his permanent interest, for while so employed he met the girl who afterward became his wife. Not long afterward he gave up the more roving business and settled permanently in Crawford County. Six sons and as many daughters were born to their marriage.
