General Notes: Husband - William D. Boas

He learned the art of printing with George Getz, of Reading, Pennsylvania, on the Berks and Schuylkill Herald, and afterwards worked at his profession in Philadelphia, Allentown, and Harrisburg. In 1837 he purchased an interest in the Reporter office at Harrisburg, in partnership, first, with Samuel D. Patterson, and then with William F. Copeland, retiring in 1842. During this period he was printer of the journals and bills of the House and Senate. He was cashier and clerk in the State treasurer's department during the administrations of Bickel, Bailey, Magraw, and McGrath, about nine years in all; was a clerk in the surveyor-general's office, and four years prothonotary of the county of Dauphin. From 1866 to 1868 he was one of the publishers of the Patriot.
