General Notes: Husband - Jacob Biere Blyholder

He received a common school education and then engaged in farming until he was twenty-five years old, when he studied drugs with Dr. Hunter, of Leechburg, Pennsylvania. In July, 1869, he went to Irwin, and in partnership with Dr. J. C. Morrison opened a drug store on Main street. Eighteen months later he bought out his partner's interest and conducted the business alone between thirteen and fourteen years. He then opened a hardware store, but at the end of two years and a half sold out and went to Kansas. There unfortunate investments crippled him financially, and his health was injured by the climate to such an extent that he was compelled to return to Irwin, which he did in September, 1888. For a few years he was interested in a stationery store and later in the livery business, but his health finally caused his complete retirement. Early in life he was a Democrat, but later was more or less an independent voter. He was a member of the Lutheran church.
