He was a farmer by occupation and owned a beautiful farm of two hundred and seventy-five acres and raised fine crops and had some large herds of choice stock.
He was a member of the Luth-eran church. He was on the building com-mittee for the new Lutheran church at Greens-burg and gave liberally towards its erection. He was a democrat and served for at least sixteen years as school director.
