General Notes: Husband - John Shoemaker


He received his education in the common schools of Hempfield township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and after leaving school engaged in a mercantile business in Greensburg which handled builders' supplies, etc. He remained in this business until 1915, working in this line for several decades. For the last twenty years of this period Mr. Shoemaker was identified with Morrison Barclay in various enterprises. He was later connected with the Preston Glass Sand Company. Aside from these important affiliations, he was a director in the Barclay-Westmoreland Trust Company and also a director of the Home Building and Loan Association. In his religious belief Mr. Shoemaker was a Lutheran and attended the First Lutheran Church, and served on the church council for years.
