General Notes: Husband - William D. Blakeslee

He was the ninth in his parents' family, was obliged to assist his parents on the farm, and therefore had but limited educational advantages, attending school only a few months. But he was a hard worker, accumulating all he had by his industry, integrity and honesty. He bought his farm, which he has improved and cultivated, from Timothy Smith. It comprised 120 acres of land. He only engaged in farming until about 1884, when he turned his attention to lumbering. His mill, located on the farm near his house, had the capacity of turning out 5,000,000 shingles annually, which were shipped to New York, Buffalo and other markets. He served as Pathmaster several years, refusing all other township offices. He was a Democrat in politics.
