General Notes: Husband - John B. Maxwell


He was educated in the country schools, and began learning the carpenter trade at the age of twenty. He lived in Sandy Lake, PA, for twelve years, and in 1878 came to his present farm of eighty-seven acres, in Findley Township, Mercer County. He and his wife were members of the Methodist Episcopal Church of Mercer. He was a Republican, and a strong temperance man. He was a soldier in Company D, Two Hundred and Eleventh Pennsylvania Volunteers, during the Civil War, and was in several hard battles.
