General Notes: Husband - Joseph Black

He was reared on the farm, and followed the millwright's trade four years. He then settled on the old family homestead, subsequently purchased 178 acres of the original tract, and continued to farm the same until 1882, in which year he retired, and began to reside with his daughter, Mrs. Henry Peters. Politically, he was a Republican, and was an adherent of Pleasant Valley Presbyterian church, in which society he filled the office of trustee.
