General Notes: Husband - Archibald Black, Sr.

He left Ireland and immigrated to Pennsylvania, where he found employment in the iron mills at Carlisle. There he married and in 1798 came to Donegal township, Butler County, and located on a tract of land in the southern part of the township. In 1809 he took out a patent, in conjunction with Archibald McCall, on 400 acres. He and his wife were practical members of the St. Patrick's Catholic church, at Sugar Creek, and reared their family in that faith. He was a stanch Democrat, and took an active and leading part in the public affairs of his day.
