General Notes: Husband - William Hamilton

The Hamiltons and Blacks both lived near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and were among the first white residents of what is now Adams County.

He was the progenitor of most of the families of this connection in western Pennsylvania, though he himself lived and died east of the mountains.
His home was three miles west of Gettysburg. At the time of the Civil War the old homestead was still standing, and was used by the Confederates as a hospital during the battle.
He reached advanced age, being over seventy when he died.

General Notes: Wife - Mary Magdalena Bittinger

She reached advanced age, being almost ninety when she died.
