He learned the jeweler’s trade at Warren, Ohio, going there in 1873. In 1875 he opened a jewelry store in Geneva, Ohio, where he remained till 1876, when he moved to Cambridge, Crawford County, Pennsylvania, and engaged in the same business there. In 1883 he bought the drug business of A. K. Fever, which he then carried on in connection with his jewelry trade. He was a member of the Masonic order, Lodge 473, of Cambridge, and was Treasurer, Collector and a member of the Council. In politics he was a Republican.
