General Notes: Husband - Dr. William Jenks Gamble

He was educated in the Jamestown Seminary and Franklin Academy, and at the age of nineteen years he was teaching the English branches, mathematics, Latin and Greek languages. At the age of twenty-three he began the study of medicine under Dr. Gibson, of Jamestown, Pennsylvania. He graduated at the Eclectic Medical College, of Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1854. He had established himself at Mosiertown in 1851, prior to his taking the degree of M. D., and afterward remained there. He became a mem-ber of the National Eclectic Association, June 14, 1877.
He was averse to holding public office, yet his neighbors, recognizing his worth and honesty, thrust upon him the position of Township Treasurer for two terms, and School Director for many years, and he was always willing to serve his share of the small offices where pay was not considered. He was firmly attached to the cause of the union, and was a life-long adherent of the Republican party, to which he clung tenaciously. Personally he was of splendid physique, being six feet, three and a half inches in height and portly in proportion.

He had three children with his first wife; two were still living in 1885.

General Notes: Wife - Esther Jane Bingham
