General Notes: Husband - Robert Cruson Best


He was born on a farm in Ligonier valley, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. He learned the shoe-maker's trade, and came to Greensburg as a young man, following his trade in that place during the remainder of his life. He was a Democrat in politics and wielded much influence in his party, being twice nominated for the office of county commissioner. He was a member of the Presbyterian church.

He and his wife reared a family of nine children, of whom seven
sons were still living in 1890.
