General Notes: Husband - William Jackson Kline

He was a farmer and owned and occupied a farm of seventy-seven acres, and was also engaged in the oil business. He was school director for several terms.

After the death of his father, he lived with his brother Franklin. He received a common school education, and learned, when he was about seventeen years old, the trade of carpenter, at which he worked for eight years. In 1870 he bought a farm of seventy-seven acres. This he found to be a good oil farm, and it was producing oil for many years. He did general farming and gave special attention to the raising of stock. In 1880 he erected a fine residence, and in 1896 he built one of the best barns in Clarion County, eighty feet long and fifty-four feet wide. He also had Speachley gas on his farm.
Mr. Kline was a very successful oil and gas operator. He owned and controlled a gas line of his own about twenty miles long. In 1907 he consolidated his line with the Edinburg Gas Company and later the Edinburg Gas Company consolidated their line with the Emlenton Gas Company and chartered under the name of the Pennsylvania Fuel and Supply Company, with headquarters at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Mr. Kline was a director of the company and owned one hundred and thirty shares of preferred stock of the company.
He was a member of the Lutheran church. He was a Democrat and served as school director.
