General Notes: Husband - Dr. Abraham H. Strickler


He graduated at the College of New Jersey, Princeton, class of 1863, receiving the degrees of A. B. and A. M. He then studied medicine in the office of Dr. William Grubb, of Greencastle, Pennsylvania, and subsequently attended Bellevue Hospital Medical College, New York, where he graduated in medicine in 1866. He commenced the practice of his profession at Mercersburg, Franklin County, where he remained five years. In 1871 he located in Waynesboro, where he then engaged in active practice. During the war of the Rebellion he served as cadet in the medical department of the Union Army, and while yet an undergraduate in medicine, he performed the duties of assistant surgeon in Lincoln Hospital, Washington, D. C.
He took an active part in education, and in the public affairs of the town. He was a member of the public school board; a member of the executive board of Frick Company, and president of American Manufacturing company, of Waynesboro. In politics he was a Republican.

He took an active part in the public affairs of the town. He served as a member of the public school board and as burgess of Waynesboro, and was prominently associated with a number of Waynesboro's large manufacturing industries. He was president of the Landis Tool Company beginning from its organization, and for ten years held the office of president of the board of health of Waynesboro. He was a member of the House of Representatives of Pennsylvania 1893-1894. He and his family were members of the Reformed Church, in which he held the office of elder for a number of years.
