The Berryhills were an old Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, family. His grandfather, Andrew Berryhill, settled on part of the present site of Harrisburg, near the middle of the eighteenth century. His farm, which he obtained by warrant dated May 17, 1765, contained 150 acres, and was situated nearly northeast of the later site of the State Asylum at Harrisburg.
