General Notes: Husband - Elbridge McConkey


He was educated at East Hampton, Massachusetts, the University of Virginia, and Harvard University, from which he graduated in July, 1861. He studied law at Harvard and with Hon. Wayne MacVeagh, and admitted to the Chester County, Pennsylvania, bar in 1863. He was aide-de-camp to Gen. McCall, First Division Pennsylvania Reserves, Fifth Army Corps, captain and brevet major, 1861-63. He was resident clerk of the House of Representatives in 1875-76 and 1883-84. He was secretary of the Pennsylvania Agricultural Society beginning in 1869.
