General Notes: Husband - Jonathan Spaulding


Civil War: he enlisted, August 2, 1862, in the One Hundred and Forty-fifth Pennsylvania Volunteers, and served in the Second Army Corps under Hancock. He was connected with the Army of the Potomac during the war, and participated in the battles of Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Wilderness, and in the siege of Petersburg, and finally in the capture of Lee's army. He also took part in several minor engagements. He held the rank of First Lieutenant with the position of Quartermaster, having passed through a regular line of promotion from the position of private. He was honorably discharged in May, 1865, and returned home. He became a member of the G. A. R. He was the owner of 250 acres of fine land. In politics, he was a Republican.
