One of his descendants, Miss Marguerite Shelmadine, was a school teacher in the Pleasantville, Pennsylvania, area, later going to Rochester, New York, where she was chief consultant in English and social studies and for 20 years vice principal of Jefferson High School there. She retired in July, 1960. She was a trustee of her alma mater, Alleg­heny College, Meadville, Pennsylvania, where she received a degree in English. She received her master's degree from the University of Chicago and also studied at Har­vard University. Marguerite Shelmadine went to Rochester, New York in 1921.
